My terrible horrible no good day

Okay, so maybe it wasn't that bad, but I will let you decide if I am exaggerating too much.

3 am - I wake up. Who knows why? But I reach out to the crib to touch Cole's back very lightly to check for breathing. It's a mom thing, right? An anxious mom thing at least. He immediately starts wailing. This immediately wakes up Corbin on his mattress which is actually another surprise because usually Corbin sleeps through everything. Corbin starts wailing. Tom wakes up and immediately jumps out of bed and leaves the room. What?!  I then hear him throw up. Thus begins our day.

7 am - my alarm goes off to get ready for the church breakfast at 9.

7:45 am - I actually get up thinking about how this isn't gonna quite cut it in a couple days.

7:55 am - Corbin wakes up too.

8:00 am - Cole joins us awake people.

8:50 am - We head out to the car for the breakfast leaving sick Tom in bed. Did I mention that I was hoping to be there by 8:30 since I am helping put it together?

8:52 am- I realize after buckling in my kids that the car won't start. I call my sick husband and he comes out and helps me jump start it. Yeah!

9:00 am - I make it to the church. I help. It all seems to go well. There were some rough moments - Corbin really isn't excited about being a big kid and leaving behind the toys and I had to go after him hauling along Cole and I looked in a mirror near the end and realized I really should have showered. But overall, I was pleased.

11:30 am - we leave. We go to Safeway for 7 up for sick husband. Corbin stays with mom the whole time. Huge bonus!

12:30 pm - we get home. Cole is asleep. Corbin refuses to nap. He does lie down and rest kind of. He thinks he is there for a long time. Maybe 20 minutes when he is not trying to tickle me, screaming about the unfairness of naps, or trying to make deals. I eventually give in and we go to the living room.

2:00 pm - Corbin watches shows. I grade papers. (Fun, right?) Sick Tom sleeps. Well Cole sleeps.

3:00 pm - Cole wakes up. I convince Corbin to come to the table to eat lunch, too. He crawls into my lap and tells me he doesn't feel well. I tell him he is wrong and that he just is tired from not napping. He proves me wrong by throwing up all over both of us.

3:30 pm - I have to console Sick Corbin who cannot figure out why this has happened to him and what he should do to stop it. I have Cole wanting to be held. I really just want a shower. Corbin falls asleep.

3:50 pm - Corbin wakes up after throwing up all over his bed and himself again.

Etc etc etc.

It is now 11:30 and everyone is asleep but me. I still haven't gotten a shower. My tummy feels a bit off but I am hoping it is just late night yuckies. I really don't want Cole and I to get sick too. There were some good things about today. I do know that.   Like this picture -
Cole asleep in his crib for his nap. I did take the sweatshirt off but I thought this was so cute.
Or this picture?
This is Corbin's arrangement of two nativity sets into one. Cute, huh?

But did I mention I haven't showered yet today?

  1. Yeah, you're right - that is a horrible, terrible day. So sorry! Hopefully Sunday was a bit better and no one else got sick. Good luck as you head back to school this week. You can do it!
