He did it!

Yesterday - on my last day before returning to work - Corbin took his first steps. He had been couch surfing. He had been lightly brushing the wall with his fingers as he came down the hall. But yesterday, he truly walked all on his own.
I think he did it yesterday so I wouldn't cry if the kids at the sitter saw it before me and told me all about it.
So maybe now we should invest in this plan...

Just teasing...no need to call the authorities! This is Baron's cage - he is my dad's dog. Corbin climbed in yesterday and I had to grab a picture.
So if I don't post for a while, it's cuz I am too tired chasing my walking/running son. :)

Vacation!

We headed to California earlier in the month to stay in a cabin built by Tom's great-grandfather. How cool is that? Corbin is part of the 5th generation to enjoy it.

We took a lot of pictures with the "real" camera that week so that's why i haven't posted. But I have some on my phone and since I have grown very lazy, those are the ones I will share.

On the car ride. For the most part, Corbin did very well but there were some hard moments...for all three of us.

Bathing in the cabins kitchen sink. When there are no tubs, you still find a way.

Visiting a redwood forest. So amazing!!

Ice cream has become a favorite!
And California had good flavors, too!!

The motel 6 on the way home had this fantastic artifact Corbin had never seen before - a corded telephone. He loved it! And I survived the motel 6. Kind of. :)

Cousins in Eugene!

Corbin and I headed south on Wednesday to visit my brothers family in Eugene. My brother was out of town for work, but we had lots of fun with my sister in law and my wonderful nieces.

It always makes me happy when others adore my son, too! And these cousins are so adoring!!

We went to a splash park where cousin Harley helped Corbin test out the water.

Payton showed Corbin how to get super wet. He did not follow her lead on this trip but I bet next summer he will!!

I think Harley is copying Corbin here.

When Harley laid down, Corbin kept leaning over and giving her raspberries on her face. Here he is-- super pleased with himself. We were all laughing pretty hard, but I think he thought it was the funniest.

After a nap on their couch for both Corbin and me, we said our goodbyes and headed home. What a great time!

Zoo!

We went to the zoo today with Uncle Chad. Corbin loves to be carried around by his uncle!

We saw monkeys, elephants, sea lions, fish, and birds. It is still sometimes hard to direct Corbin to look at something but you could always tell when he spotted the animal. The elephants were especially funny as were the birds of prey. He would be looking here and there and all of a sudden his eyes got huge and he just closely followed every move. I loved it!

Here are some photos.

As you can imagine, this was exhausting and Corbin took two naps this afternoon/evening!

One last picture of my happy boy.

Big boy

I am constantly amazed at the incredibly rapid pace Corbin is learning things. It is so much fun to have a front row seat as he figures out the world around him.

Here he is on the phone.

But maybe texting is a better option. :)

At a fountain when it got pretty dang hot here.

Tonight we went outside and picked some berries for our ice cream. You can see how helpful my partner was.

Warm weather equals sweaty head.
Sweaty head equals lots of curls!
Love this boy!!
