Tomorrow is July!

It feels like we have been counting down to July forever, but now that July is only hours away, I am a bit surprised at how fast it has come. Not that I am not super excited to meet the little guy, but sometimes, I wonder if we are really ready -- emotionally, physically, etc. I suspect everyone feels that way...right??

According to the app on my Iphone, I am currently carrying a human being that is approximately the size of a watermelon. Since it is the 4th of July weekend coming up, there are plenty of watermelons around to help visualize what that might mean. Wow! It does make it a bit odd to eat watermelon, though. Hmmm....

It has been really nice to not have work this past couple of weeks. I have been able to allow myself a lot of rest (which I am fully aware will end dramatically soon) and get some of the things done we need to do at a pace that I find doable. I wish that all women could have this opportunity. The last week of school my ankles swelled up a ton, but at least now I can recognize them as part of my own body.

Today's task -- washing the baby clothes we have collected so far. I got them ready while watching a movie called Taking Chance. It is about a Marine officer accompanying the body of a solider killed in action back to his family. I sobbed through the entire thing - like vocal hysterical sobs. So good -- and I would recommend it to anyone -- except for maybe other pregnant women. Keep the kleenex close!! I really appreciated how it showed respect for the sacrifice of the soldier. Okay, enough on that, or I will probably cry again.

That's about it...3 weeks and 6 days to go...as if Baby Boy is going to come exactly on time. That sure would make this a lot easier if that's how it worked, huh??? :-) I could put it in my planner and we would be all ready for it. Oh well, just another reminder that my life is no longer really my own...

  1. When I was told that Ava was the size of a watermelon in my belly we ran to the store and bought one and shoved it up Brad's shirt. We took matching pictures with our bellies touching. I had Ava a few days later. We still laugh so hard when we see that picture.
Can't wait to hear the birth story and see pics. I really wish I could come up there and see the little guy in person. xoxo
