Birds

Did you ever see Alfred Hitchcock's movie The Birds? If that movie still gives you the creeps, then you may wish to avoid the following activity.

We went to Chapman School on Monday night to see the swifts and the chimney. I guess since the 1980s a huge number of swifts come to this schools chimney to roost for the night every September. Like thousands of birds! So hundreds of people come to watch every night.

The birds begin to gather back in to the area as the sun goes down and they circle the chimney. As it gets darker, the birds get thicker and thicker and then begin to go in. It is truly amazing to watch!! I wish I was better at describing it! But here are some pics...

The event has a very Portland vibe to it if you know what I mean. We had a good time and Baby Boy enjoyed the adventure even he wasn't sure why I had to kiss him in public. See below.

I suspect that will embarrass him even more in the future.

  1. That is so cool. How come I never heard about that living in Portland all those years? Glad everyone enjoyed it . . . kissing in public, and all ;)
